Charge more vehicles without overloading the grid

Share the power you have across your charge points. CURRENT keeps the total load within your limit, so you make better use of the electrical capacity you already have.

Stay within your limit

Total load stays under the maximum you set for the site.

Fair sharing

Every vehicle gets charge when capacity is limited.

Prices that follow the market

Features

What you can do with Smart Energy Management

Load management

Stay within your power limit

Choose static load management with fixed limits set in advance, or dynamic load management with one maximum for all chargers. With dynamic, power moves to the vehicles that are charging as they connect and leave.

  • Static load management with fixed power limits
  • Dynamic load management with one defined maximum
  • Stable, controlled power distribution
Peak power control

Lower consumption when demand is high

Reduce how much power you draw in peak periods, by using an energy storage system or adjusting load patterns.

  • Peak power control with energy storage
  • Adjusted load patterns
  • Set in the same platform as your charge points
Queue management

Share power when capacity is limited

When there is not enough power for everyone at once, power is shared so every vehicle gets charge. You can give selected chargers priority.

  • Fair sharing when capacity is limited
  • Priority for selected chargers
Spot pricing

Let prices follow the market

Adjust what drivers pay based on real-time market conditions. Drivers can save money by charging when power is cheaper, which also spreads the load.

  • Prices based on real-time market conditions
  • Set together with your own tariff rules
Vehicle-to-grid

Use vehicles as a power source

With vehicle-to-grid (V2G), electric vehicles can both draw power for charging and feed power back to the grid when it is needed.

  • Charging and discharging in one platform
  • Support for ISO 15118, the standard for communication between vehicle and charger

Works with the chargers you choose

CURRENT is hardware agnostic and built on open standards, so you are not tied to one manufacturer.

FAQ

Common questions

What is the difference between static and dynamic load management?

Static load management gives charge points fixed power limits set in advance. Dynamic load management uses one maximum for all chargers and moves power to the vehicles that are charging, so less capacity goes unused.

Do we need to upgrade our grid connection to add more chargers?

Not always. Load management lets more charge points share the capacity you have. Whether it is enough depends on your site and how vehicles use it, and that is something to look at together with your electrician.

What happens when there is not enough power for everyone?

Queue management shares the power so every vehicle gets charge. Chargers you have prioritised get more power than others.

Which chargers support vehicle-to-grid?

V2G needs both a charger and a vehicle that support bidirectional charging. Talk to us about the hardware you have or plan to buy.
